the water temps were closer to 64 degrees, the fish finder was a little off. But the suspended fish were accurate. Photo by Al Q
Our friend Mike Wicen had no mercy fishing plastics on Saturday morning. He out fished me and my buddy John at least two to one to the fly, landing many quality size fish. The deeper sinking, larger plastic swim baits were the ticket. The color plastic they preferred was a green, grey bait. The fly colors we got bit on were chartreuse/white, anchovy/white, and brown/orange. The water temps are beginning to rise and the bass are starting to suspend, it should only start getting better and better as we head towards July.
Nice report and good pics. Not much fly love though. You did not mention that our best fly chucker was limited due to a bad stripping arm. We were just about to catch Mike when you went on the DL!!!
Nice fish Mike, John and Al.
