Corbina Diaries Unplugged.

A fun evening last night at the Long Beach Casting Club with many members coming out to learn more about our local corbina fishery. I did a casting demo, a fly-tying demo, a furling-a-leader demo, and a 45-minute slideshow. Many great questions, and good information was distributed. I think we got them fired up to give this local fishery a try. Like I said, learning to fly fish for corbina or local carp will humble you and will make you a better overall fly fisher. Period! Put in the time; failure is just another word for learning. The more time you spend on the water or the beach the better you will understand how to approach these fish. It’s the best game in town, this time of the year. Great tides next week, get out there! -Al Q

the corbina season is upon us…

Hey guys! Finally down here in Los Angeles this past week, our water temperatures hit the magic 67-68 degrees. This is the time I wait for all year, when you can target the corbina in shallow water and sight or vicinity cast to them. These pics came in to me through my friends from LA to San Diego. Love the shot of the corbina and perch on the tandom rig shot by Kent Conklin of San Diego. Dust off your 6 weight and get out there. If you need to get up to speed I will throw in a shameless plug, please grab a copy of The Corbina Diaries.

Tight Lines, but not too tight…
